Donna, I take your notes in the spirit of honest criticism in which they were offered. It is clear that you are a fellow student of Konstantin Stanislavski's system of acting, and believe that an acteur should always play his part in context of the classic goal vs. strategy system he constructed for us. I wholeheartedly agree that it can take an audience out of "the moment" (Stanislavski's term for 60 seconds of time) when an actor's performance focuses on emotion rather than the "beats" (Stanislavski's term for "bits"...he had a slight Russian accent) which reveal the character's goals and struggles.

However, you also need to keep in mind that Stanislavski also had another dictum that he believed: one should always approach a role as directly as possible, and then see if it "lives." If the actor and the role connect, and the role comes to life, why apply a technique, a system? Such a performance may only occur once in an actor's life, and for me, that moment happened here. With this piece, entitled "Double Rainbow Cupcakes" (adapted from the classic roman bedroom farce 'The Duality of Iris') It was if the third eye of buddha itself opened on my forehead, and hot thesbian action shot out.

I grant that it's not a traditional performance. And yes, I am shamed that I did not perform my actions and beats as the Master instructed. But can't we all agree that theatre, cinema...indeed, life itself is an art that exists solely in the moment. And life, my friends, is too big of a thing to be contained by any one system of acting. However, I will defend myself and my acting choices no more! The die has been cast! Let history and the ghosts of Sophocles, Shakespeare, and Jimmy Durante be my jury, and future generations be my judge! Good day to you all!
