That show is awesome. Probably the best show ever made. It did give a perception that Baltimore was rough and could of possibly hindered business growth and tourism, but it did enhance viewers knowledge of the culture there.

“Legs” probably tarnished Saratoga Springs more than Albany. I’d go with “O! Albany” or “Roscoe”.

Keep in mind that the neighborhoods where the show was filmed were cleaned up. Those neighborhoods did then, and do now, look much worse in reality.

I can understand him being sick of getting asked about The Wire, and I understand that the perspective of police has to be different, but I’d think he’d have more disgust for the CSI’s and other fairy tale cop shows. Then again, commissioners in other cities probably get asked about The Wire more than any of those other shows.

And yet he doesn’t say anything about Carmelo showing up in gang videos? I think he’d be better suited to deal with an issue like that which is more impressionable on people then a tv series.

I worked my way through “The Wire” on Netflix about six months ago. I’m a huge “Homicide” fan and I loved “The Wire” that much more. Think you would, too.
