Charlie Sheen in March 2009

Charlie Sheen, social crack smoker. Image via Wikipedia

Charlie Sheen called into Dan Patrick‘s radio show yesterday morning to discuss his recent troubles

He said that he’s currently “peeing clean” and was surprised when he showed up to work on the sitcom “Two and a Half Men” and nobody was on set.

The kicker, though, was what he said about crack cocaine.

He advised listeners that they shouldn’t do the drug “unless they can manage it socially.” He then said that he, in fact, can manage crack cocaine socially.

Ladies and gentlemen, Charlie Sheen has made history as the world’s first ever social crack cocaine user. I consider him a pioneer.

Who wants to hang out this weekend, watch some sports and smoke some crack?

Man, this guy is so dead by the end of 2011. I hate saying that so glibly, but trust me, he’s doomed.

I’m mad at myself for not putting him on my death list. He would have been worth some points. If he makes it through the year I will definitely add him for next year.

Hey man, I’ll bring a rock to Ponderosa if you want. It’ll be a blazin’ good time.

  3. EZ says:

So in a way, he’s actually advocating for everyone to do crack-cocaine at least once to see if they can manage it socially.

Is the “death list” still going. I was playing that in the 1970s…glad to hear that it is still around and played.

Charlie S. is in a death spiral…too bad…funny guy. Sadly he’s been making a living playing himself on 2.5 men. “Handle it socialy”?…really…is that what you’re doing Chuck?

    Sad and pathetic.

We’ll miss you Charlie and so will the porn star hookers.

  6. Michael Rivest says:

I think I’ll sit the kids around the fire tonight and break out the crack pipe. It’s time they learn to smoke it responsibly.

  7. jakester says:

Any guy that can blow his marriage to Denise Richards for drugs isn’t
able to handle ANYTHING. He’s a mental midget… that’s where you get
    the REAL 2.5 men from…

    Poor Charlie.

  9. Linda Muralidharan says:

Ahem…and all joking aside, the public gets a lot of false information about recreational drug use (including alcohol) from a lot of sources.

We can get a few things straight here, though. There is substance addiction, substance use (“social” and responsible) and there is abuse.

I would not recommend crack. The route of administration means you get the high quickly..want more quickly…and can run out of money really fast. And get addicted faster than is likely with powder cocaine, heroin, and etc. All of which can be used socially, responsibly and need to be legalized, taxed, regulated for safety.

However, people have used crack cocaine socially with no direct ill effects…so long as certain drugs are illegal even social use has the downside of putting yourself at risk for arrest..or getting a contaminated dose.

If you are an addict or have an addictive personality you put yourself at particular risk if you use crack. If you are an addict, though, and you claim you are in genuine recovery which involves remainng clean and sober you cannot afford to use any mood altering drug. Your mind will want more of whatever…even if it was not your original drug of choice. Or….taking the less favored drug…you reduce your inhibition against going back to your former “lover”…just this once, just one…

Nah, Sheen is a sad case. And addiction is a fatal disease if not arrested…so leave you guns at home.

Great! More business for me as an Addictions Counselor. Because, you know, we don’t care about our clients, we’re just in it for the “big bucks”. Yeah, that’s it.

A man that owns his business; owns his practice. It’s admirable, albeit highly delusional, in a way.

Since when is it a crime to be the most awesome man on the face of the Earth? What is this, Soviet Russia/

After what he went thru in the ‘Nam, I can see why he’d use, man.

But his TV show is so funny!

  16. u2 says:

It’s money related. When you have unlimited coin, combined with fame, you have a warped way of thinking.

I like how the media is still portraying him as being “in rehab”. He’s not in rehab, HE’S HOME!.

  17. Get Real © says:

He’ll be on his knees giving back alley services in no time. 8)

For the sake of context, it’s worth listening to the whole interview:

Not defending Charlie Sheen here, but I think his point was not that he’s a social user, in the same sense that someone may be a social drinker, but that he thinks he can can use it and function normally.

Judging from his track record, that’s even more troubling.

I don’t know why he re-upped after fighting Cubans and Russians in Colorado, he went to Nam in the ’84 and back in ’86, didn’t they tell him it was over by then?
