I don’t believe it was ever explained how freakin’ Paulie changed the robot’s voice. Being the ridiculous nerd that I am, I tried to find out, but failed. However, I did find this oddball tidbit:

Paulie’s Robot was created by the International Robotics Inc. in New York City. The robot’s voice was the company’s CEO Robert Doornick. Roger Ebert surmises the robot is an android of some type, complete with artificial intelligence. The robot is identified by robotic engineers as “SICO” and is/was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and toured with James Brown in the 1980s.

What I should’ve done is mentioned it as little as possible so that I raised far less money for childhood cancer research. Touche! Tell the two other people who you are in regular contact with (huh?) to hit me up next time they’re doing it and I’ll donate $20 for their cause, and then we can all meet up for coffee and talk about how to raise money for a fundraiser (hint: it’s not by keeping it a secret and not by posting passive-aggressive comments on the internet towards someone you’re obsessed with).

zlz – Yes. I don’t remember, though, if it was explained HOW he reprogrammed it? It seems like that was left hanging, giving the impression that Paulie (freakin’ Paulie!) hacked the robot.

I’m reminded of a time not too long ago when a local blogger talked incessantly about shaving his head to raise money for St. Baldricks.

Good deed for sure, and braver than a lot of people who wouldn’t have had the guts to do that.

Definitely Paulie’s Robot. There were two other people who I am in regular contact with who were not all like “OMG guys I’m shaving my head look at my birthmark! Come see me do it and look at the pictures after too!”.

We could use that in SWAT hostage negotiations. Have the sexy voice robot enter the dangerous premises with gun-wielding, highly stressed, psychotic, hostage-taking perpetrator; queue 1980s bad-porn crap music and have the robot talk the psycho down by using ‘phone sex’ techniques to lull him into a calm and serene-o-gasmic, hostage freeing mood.
