“Coverage You Can Trust” has been the calling card for WNYT for many years, but with an ever-changing media landscape, the station has decided to move away from it.

Effective Monday, the station will be changing its slogan to “Ladies and Gentlemen, Here is Your News.”

“We needed a change,” explains Curtis Loew, who works for the station’s marketing team. “And this was the best we could come up with.”

Along with the new slogan, changes will be made to the presentation. Rather than filming in their traditional studio, the 6:00pm and 11:00pm newscasts will instead be shot in front of a grand fireplace with anchors like Jim Kambrich and Benita Zahn presenting the news in formal wear.

“We want you to feel like you’re not hearing the news but discussing it with really really important people after a fancy dinner,” explained Loew.

Not everyone is happy with the changes, however. A source who asked not to be named has told me that Phil Bayly has refused to go along with the new format and has indicated that he’ll sit out in protest if forced to wear a tuxedo on the air.

“Phil’s too punk rock for that [stuff],” the source told me.

————–

Happy April Fools’ Day!

Everyone else as burned out on Charlie Sheen as I am? Good. Because this week’s collection of links contain nary a single article related to his extended manic episode.

As I write this, I’m watching fights and packing for a weekend in New York City. Going to see some family members, non-related Marshalls, and my friend Brian and Marla that are like a brother and sister to me except they’re also a couple which makes it weird.

What?

Anyway, y’all hold it down here in the Capital Region and I’ll be back on Monday, when this blog will be relaunched under a new title and a new brand. That’s right! Get excited!

Hey folks!

As a reminder, tonight the band Phantogram will play live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. So stay up late and/or set your DVRs.

Despite all the buzz around them for several years (going back to when they were known as Charlie Everywhere), I just saw the band live for the first time this past Saturday at WEXT‘s Exit Dome 4.

They were amazing. I rushed out and bought their LP towards the end of their set, and fell in love with them.

If Phantogram were a cult, I’d have given them all my money by now.

The duo is originally from Saratoga Springs, and is poised to be launched into the stratosphere with the buzz this performance is sure to generate.

Don’t miss out.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC (local affiliate WNYT) at 12:38am EST.
