As a follow-up to the post from earlier today about Hector Lombard: it seems he wants his next opponent to be Mark Munoz. Yes, the same guy who just lost in devastating fashion to Chris Weidman.
But on Wednesday, he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he wants to fight Mark Munoz next – even if the UFC offers him a title shot with Silva.
“Saturday, I’m focused on this fight,” Lombard told MMAjunkie.com after a workout session in Calgary. “And after that, I’m going to call Mark Munoz out. I’m focused on the fight, but I’m going to call out Mark Munoz after. That’s my goal.
“I’m going to make a statement no matter what. But after that, I’m going to beat up Mark Munoz.”
Apparently this is because of statements Munoz made about Lombard. I haven’t seen them or heard what they were. But regardless, it’s bad timing and bad form. Lombard’s a heralded but still unproven commodity with a fight coming up against a dangerous opponent, and he’s calling out a guy who last we saw was finished by an upstart and subject to a dangerously late stoppage?
Dude.
