Bobblevote.com's artist's rendering of the Liz Bobblehead. Hopefully the incandescent glow isn't the result of radioactive materials used to make the Bobbleheads. That'd be dangerous!

I know I said that this post would be my last on the Bobblevote contest, but I feel compelled to write again for two reasons.

Firstly, to congratulate the winner, Liz Bishop. All indications I’ve gotten from folks who have met or dealt with her are that she’s a genuine professional, and I’m glad she got some money for her charity of Hospice (which I supported for personal reasons I outlined on this very blog).

Which brings me to my second and more important reason for posting: the charities.

I’m guilty of it too, but it’s easy to forget these causes to get off our radar if they’re not thrust directly in front of us. So, with us being a week out of the closing of the contest, I’d like to list the charities involved in the “Final Four” along with links to donate:

Hospice (Liz Bishop)

Special Olympics (John Gray)

Gilda’s Club (Kristi Gustafson) Note: Team Gustafson also generously donated volunteer hours based on the number of votes she received in the semi-finals.

Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York (Lydia Kulbida)

Hannah’s Hope Fund (Lydia Kulbida)

March of Dimes Northeastern New York Chapter (Lydia Kulbida)

Kelly’s Angels (Lydia Kulbida) Link directs to a blog post where Lydia explains the event; they don’t appear to have a website.

To Love a Child (Lydia Kulbida)

Later today: a return to the usual mundane nonsense, as we discuss the Alive at Five lineup. The real one.

UPDATE: It appears Lydia Kulbida and I both have “the Shine.” She blogged scant minutes before this posted about heading over to The Joe today to give more for her charities, and she has more info on them as well as other upcoming events (including this Sunday’s March of Dimes walk) HERE.

  1. Rob Madeo says:

    Did Roz make that picture?

  2. Thanks to the Simpsons, I am familiar with “the shinning” but I’m not so sure about “the Shine”. I thought it was “the shining” but I never quite make it through the loooooong original movie and it’s been ages since I read the book.
