Important Message for State Workers
(in response to letters such as the one DOH sent out, courtesy the State Worker blog)
TO: All State Workers
FROM: Kevin Marshall, Local Treasure
CC: Robby Madeo
DATE: Tuesday, June 15th 2010
To All State Employees,
You may have read that the State Legislature has not enacted an appropriation bill, and that various departments and offices throughout the State will be shutting down all non-essential services tomorrow (Tuesday, June 15th 2010).
Most likely, you have already received a memo, e-mail, or other form of communication from your Human Resources division stating that you are non-essential.
I would just like to reiterate that as was our policy from the beginning, we here at Kevin Marshall: In the Present Tense consider all State workers to be essential and vital. You will never see the blog or its primary author refer to any State employee as not needed, disposable, or anything but unique and wonderful human beings.
We need you all to keep the State, and this blog, afloat. Kevin Marshall does not prioritize and keeps the love spread over his thousand plus readers every day.
Because your continued readership and support is essential to us.
Sincerely,
Kevin Marshall

Keep spreading the love. You’re like a blogging Jesus.
The only thing I have in common with Jesus Christ is the question as to who my real father is.
(I kid – my mother was a Saint and a one-man woman)
Replace “sincerely” with “kisses.”
We received an e-mail on Friday indicating that I interpreted to say that we would be contacted if deemed essential.
Today, when the politicians seem to be leaning heavily towards foregoing the shutdown, we get another e-mail addressed to “all staff” informing us that we are NOT essential. I wanted to respond with a message saying “gee, thanks.”
Kevin: Thank you for giving my life new meaning.
If this had a like button, I’d totally “like” it.
what an awful way for the state to show their appreciation to their employees. No wonder we are in so much trouble. You said it best – ALL are essential….not just the ones at the top.
@Faith: It’s not just the ones at the top. My father is at the top and was told that if the government shut down, he could enjoy working from home without pay.
Is it April Fool’s Day again?
I hope most of you watched Catherine Zeta Jones’ tribute to the NYS government on the Tony awards broadcast Sunday night.
She sang “SEND IN THE CLOWNS”
Thank you, Kevin, even though I’m a couple days late seeing this.
Now if they’d only pass a budget so we could stop going through this stress every week.
Better yet, can I hear on that retirement incentive that extends to age 50 and over, please? (DH, only 52, waits impatiently on pins and needles, drumming her fingers.)
