At the end of the month, the Restoration Festival will occur at St. Joseph’s. It’s a two-day art and music festival occuring Saturday, August 28th and Sunday, August 29th.

I first learned of the festival when I attended WEXT’s 3rd Anniversary Celebration at Valentine’s last month. One look at the lineup and I got excited.

Scheduled to appear:

Having seen them live I can attest to the greatness of Dunbar, Beware! The Other Head of Science, Barons in the Attic, and Matthew Carefully. We Are Jeneric have a Hell of a following, but I’m ashamed to admit I have little to no exposure to them.

I haven’t seen Swamp Baby live, but they put out one of my favorite releases of the year (“All Fours“) on Collar City Records, so I’m excited to see them come out to do their thing.

In addition there will be various audio/visual interludes, as well as an afterparty courtesy of the Goodship collective, who are some of my favorite DJs. They play the Official Unofficial Troy Night Out After-Parties at Daisy Baker’s as well as the rooftop party at Pagliacci’s on South Pearl St. in Albany on the first and third Fridays of every month.

Tickets are only $15 for the entire weekend if you buy them in advance. Pretty damn good considering you can’t into most shows for that price.

For more information and to buy tickets, go to the Rest Fest website. Hope to see y’all there!

its going to be such a good show. Cant wait to see RailBird again, They’re great!!! Also looking forward to AltaMira and BTOHS. Its going to be a sick weekend!

  2. Jbone – Haven’t seen Railbird before, but – and no offense to any of the other acts which I love – BTOHS put on the best live show of any local band I’ve seen.

Am a little disappointed that they didn’t book two of the area’s best groups: PUKING DOWN YOUR NECK and NUNS CHEATING AT BINGO.
