"ATTENTION HUMANS! I have kidnapped your Sun God, Apollo! If you ever want to see that giant ball of yarn light up your skies again, you will bring me all your Kibble!" (photoshop from AllOverAlbany.com)

I just learned from WTEN’s Twitter stream that the 36-pound cat known as Flabby Tabby has found a family that is “happy to take on his maintenance issues.”

I watched video of the cat, and he really is a sweetie. Then again, I’m a sucker for cats. And dogs. And babies. And any woman with big eyes and/or a halfway decent smile. And matchstick men. And random guys in Albany who tell me they got stranded and need ten bucks to get back to Schenectady (geez Schenectady, what’s up with you just abandoning people here?).

To those who will say “who cares, it’s a cat?” I care because he’s adorable and it’s fun. So why not take joy in this story? If you can’t, at least take some amusement out of All Over Albany’s photostream of Fat Joe.

UPDATE: Full story here.

UPDATE the 2nd: Here’s the video that I accidentally didn’t link to. D’oh. It’s SUPER adorable.

  1. Watch the video from the TU that I linked at the end. I love fat, friendly “rowr” and the moment where they try to get him to jump onto the chair and he just goes “f*** that noise.”

I told you…once you go fat……this makes me smile..just looking at his picture makes me happy for some strange reason.

Just realized why I like him….if I were a cat, I’d be HIM!

LOLOL… the All Over Albany photostream is hysterical.. thanks for the link. YOUR photo caption, above, had me in stitches. Fat Cat and Mayor Melanoma!

    • Tony – Re: looking at him makes you smile. ME TOO! You know what I think it is? He looks Buddha fat. Like he’s so big, with his big belly, but he’s so content. It really is beautiful. And the fact that he loooooves being carried makes it that much better.

Annie – I like “Mayor Melanoma”. Than you for introducing it to our lexicon.

  5. Annie says:

Kevin, I heard the moniker ‘Major Melanoma’ uttered by a comedian at a Capital District Little League banquet in …2000? 2001? The mayor, who attended, took it in stride. I giggled and gaffawed at that comment for the rest of her spiel. Too funny.

The video is too funny.. FatCat thinks about jumping up on the office chair..but then, has 2nd thoughts. His butt would never clear it? Too much effort to exert? Hehe.

Actually he’s a handsome, charming fellow. I hope his new family takes good care of him and helps him get the weight off with a vet’s care, of course. He seems friendly and loving. I kind of hope they share his progress. Like to know how this all turns out for him.

I so shared this to FB just now. I’m trying to decide if I should feel guilty about that. Really hope for the best for him in his new home.

Buddha would have been a great name for him though hopefully he will be trimming down for his health’s sake. Do they know how old he is?

Yes!! A Buddha cat- love it. I just wanted to rub his belly and make wishes. I don’t care all that much for cats but that one charmed me.
