My brother Jack and his beautiful wife Jill. Yes, Jack and Jill. Go ahead and get it out of your systems.

Anyone who knows me – or is even a regular reader – knows about the important part my siblings play in my life. They’re both a great influence and a great comfort in my adult life, and growing up as the youngest of five I’d always admired and wanted to be more like them.

My brother Jack is certainly no exception.

Even though I’m all growed up and stuff, I still look up to him. Dude’s got the life: a pretty and charming life, a great band (ambient post-hardcore band So Hideous My Love – check out the site to download the free EP), steady work, and he lives in New York City. He’s pretty much living exactly the kind of life I want to live.

Oh, and add father to the list. Marshalls are making babies all over the place!

Like with Joey’s birth, there’s a level of happiness that I can’t quite convey with words. I’m just so damn proud of our Jack, who has become the man that I always hoped and knew he would become.   We haven’t had the chance to talk much, since the last couple days have been hectic. I’m sure a lot is running through his head, and a first child can be as daunting a prospect as it is exciting.

I’ve no doubt, though, that Jack’s going to be a great father. I see it evidenced when he visits with my nieces and the joy he had in his voice whenever the subject of Jill and her pregnancy came up in conversation.

The only bone I have to pick is that the child was born while I was watching a movie, so I missed the actual phone call delivering the news. It was a great movie, too; so great that I suggested he name the child after it. Unfortunately, it looks like I’ll have to make my own Inception Marshall.

Monday, July 19th at 9:23pm marked the arrival of my newest nephew, Caden John Marshall. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces. (update: my brother tells me now that they mis-weighed him and he was actually 8 pounds 15 ounces)

Holla!

Caden is very lucky to be born into such a wonderful family. And the “awkward” picture is nothing. One of my favorite sites is “Awkward Family Photos” – hilarious! Congrats to whole family.

    • Kim - Me too! The name was kinda kept under wraps, I didn’t find out myself until he was born. I like it a lot, to the point where I’m sorta disappointedI can’t use it now. :)

Also, everyone congratulate Jack and Jill, not me! I didn’t do nothin’ but be born into the same family.

Really, no one referenced the famous Andrew Dice Clay Jack and Jill diddy? Well ok, you’ll all have to look it up. Anywho, congrats to all involved; your family does make pretty/handsome babies….
