Troy Night Out is TONIGHT! Check out TroyNightOut.org for a full list of participants.

In addition to the usual litany of great art offerings and entertainment provided throughout downtown, there are two more reasons you should go out of your way to attend.

Firstly, there will be a live recording of WEXT’s “Hello Pretty City” program hosted by Laura Glazer at Tight Knit (3 3rd St., the Frear Building). The program happens to be a favorite of mine and the only locally produced over-the-air programs I go out of my way to listen to, so I’m definitely excited.

Also…let me preface this by saying I’ve been a resident of Troy for my entire life (encroaching on 29 years), so what I’m about to say may have just a tinge of bias to it. That being said, there are few sites quite like downtown Troy during the Christmas season. The wreaths and lights adorning the streets, combined with Troy’s historic Victorian architecture, look like something out of a painting. In fact, I see these types of paintings everywhere that attempt to capture the essence of Christmas in a bygone era, but no canvas comes close to capturing what’s recreated in the city.

It’s definitely worth seeing. Hope to see you there, and as always, don’t be shy about saying hello…not that I’ve found that to be the case thus far.

Happy Friday and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
