Well, folks, this is it. After over 700 posts and a year and a half here, I’m packing up and leaving the Times Union.

My final post here will be on Friday, September 23rd.

What I’m most proud of is all the good this blog was able to accomplish through the generosity of readers and passerbys, most recently our raising over $2,000 for the Special Olympics of New York. So for that, I thank you all for making this a truly rewarding experience.

So join me here in my last week. It’ll be business as usual. None of that “retrospective” stuff, because blogs don’t really deserve that.

See you on Friday and then from there on after over on the new blog, which will launch Monday, September 26th at KevinMarshallOnline.com!

Kevin – you know I have been one of your biggest fans at the TU blog community. That being said, although I am sorry to see you go, I am comforted that we will still be able to read the goings-on of Capitaland’s self-professed “local treasure.” It’s not goodbye. It’s see you soon. All the best.

  2. Jango Davis says:

Sorry you’re leaving Kevin, I love your blog and your leaving just when you almost had me convinced that legalizing MMA in NYS is a good idea! Ah well…

  3. Tony Barbaro says:

Way to frig up my routine…get up, have coffee, check email, check Kevin’s blog….
seroiusly tho, you’re blog is one of the reasons I started writing. Only met you a couple of times at events, but I think you’re one of the funniest, quick witted guys I’ve met…let us know where you can be found.
    good luck.
    TonyB

  4. Roger Green says:

Well, I understand WHY you go. I have my own blog, which, truth to tell, is easier for me to write than the TU blog. Still, there is a certain volume that the TU potentially affords…
well, good luck, and I’ll link to the new site.

  5. Michael Rivest says:

Yours has always been my favorite blog, Kevin.

  6. Ski says:

Really disappointing. :( You’re going to be missed.

  7. Roz says:

    Already bookmarked, Kevin :)

  8. Anne-Marie Sheehan says:

Awe shucks – we’ll miss your blog and your presence in the Times Union blogging community! However, we’ll be sure to follow you on your new site! Good to know you’ll still be around!

  9. Amy says:

Sad news, but have the new site bookmarked & am glad you’ll continue to blog – not enough good blogs out there that we can afford to lose yours!

  10. Chuck Miller says:

I’ve already added your new blog location to my TU blogroll.

  11. Katie says:

    Fare thee well, Kevin!

That is, fare thee well until Monday, when I will subscribe to your other blog. : )

  12. Leigh says:

I’m just glad you’re going to keep writing because seriously no one makes me laugh/think more than you. Your style blows me away. Every single post is a gem. It’s nice to have the opportunity to tell you that!

  13. Times Union readers will miss you Kevin. I wish you the best in all of your endeavors. No doubt, your new blog will be a success.

    Sincerely,
    Liz

  14. HomeTownGirl says:

Awwwwwwwww…No wayyyyy! I love your blog Kevin Marshall. You have a fantastic sense of humor and I am truly going to miss reading your posts. Best of luck to you and please keep on writing wherever you go!
    – HTG :)

  15. Mick says:

Will your new blog have like buttons? Because it would be easier for us to “like” Leigh’s comment instead of retyping the same thing over and over.
While I may not have logged the same amount of times as others I love how can discuss anything.
This is the next challenge to the TU. They generate this platform for these dynamic bloggers but the retention is fairly shortlived of their high traffic non-staff blogs. Which is a gem because these were few and far between.

  16. EZ says:

When submitting your last post, be sure to play “This Used to be My Playground” and “It’s so Hard to Say Goodbye”, while one slow tear trickles down your cheek.

Then move on and never look back. Goodluck at your new place.

  17. ARA: WTH?! What, the TU didn’t pay you enough? C’mon, with you leaving, it’ll mess up the “whitewash” business plan!

Seriously, I’ll miss your TU spot, but I’ll be sure to read your take on America at your old/new location. I’ve enjoyed our discussions, both on & off line, in person and not. Hope those will continue.
Now, one last Blogorama, for olde tymes sake…

  18. Jason Purvis says:

You will be missed on the TU but I’ll still be an avid reader of KevinMarshallOnline!

Thank you for everything that you’ve done to get me into the blogging community

  19. Jessica R says:

Sorry to hear this! Count me in as another person that will bookmark your blog!

  20. Katie says:

I have to say I’m sad to hear this as well! I know I’m a couple days late and haven’t been as faithful as I would like due to various things, but Kev you’ve always been one of my favorite blog reads!

Between Over the Edge and St.Baldrick’s last year I cannot say enough about how genuine of a person you are and how honored I am to know you….cheesy I know….but true!

I will most definitely be following your new site….and then….when you make it BIG I can say I knew you when….because really…I did!

  21. Freddie says:

    Best to ya, Kevin.
