The Times Union blogs have two exciting new additions.
Mr. Andy Rooney always tells it like it is!
The first comes syndicated to the site via parent company The Hearst Corporation: longtime television personality and essayist Mr. Andy Rooney, whose segments have been a staple of news programming for decades. As on “60 Minutes,” Mr. Andy Rooney will run the gamut by sharing his insights and thoughts on everything from mail he receives from adoring fans, loud men in car commercials, the disruption caused in life by the changing of traffic lights, and the confusing nature of supermarket produce sections.
Mr. Andy Rooney is a legend and I look forward to him bringing his particular brand of gadfly cantankery to the TU Blog Community. The blog, titled “Did You Ever Notice…” starts next week.
Note – this blog will be coming from a syndicated feed, meaning comments from local readers will be allowed but won’t, unfortunately, be read by Mr. Andy Rooney. But it should be a great time regardless!

The other new blogger is another former television personality, though he is certainly no stranger to our area. Get ready, folks, because it’s the return of none other than Ric Renner! Ric lit the local news on fire with his particular brand of frantic sports reporting, and he looks to do the same to the local blog community. Renner is a legend in the area, and I’m glad to see him back and writing in Albany where he belongs.
“Return to Renner” also starts next week. This won’t be your father’s dull, boring blog. Get ready to get Rennergized™!
Both men will be fine additions to the blogs here, and I’m sure things will get real exciting real quick. Looks like I came in at just the right time!
