New Saints head coach Isaiah Thomas

Siena College has announced it will bring in former New York Knicks player, head coach, and general manager Isiah Thomas to take the Saints’ helm after Fran McCaffrey’s departure.

Thomas is expected to meet with Siena College athletics director John D’Argenio on Friday to discuss recruitment efforts.

“Needless to say, we’re all really excited” a source that did not wish to be named told the Times Union. “We’re hopeful Isiah will bring his expertise from the court, from courtside, and from the front office of the Knicks organization to our school and bring us to the dance.”

Thomas already has big plans, which include a recruitment trip to Wyoming and enrolling former SUNY Binghamton guard Tiki Mayben in the upcoming Fall semester. When asked if he was excited to be playing in front of a home court again, Mayben explained that he was from Troy, NY, and not Loudonville and refused further comment.

Kevin – it’s “Isiah” Thomas; but a good April Fool’s prank nonetheless. I would have thought the Saints would have at least considered Vincent Askew…

  2. This is no prank. I got the info from new Saints Athletics spokesperson and former WTEN sports director Dan Murphy.

  3. Tom Reale says:

So… am I reading this correctly, or did you just reveal your source which did not want to be named, after just two minutes? Shoddy, shoddy journalistic integrity, Mr. Marshall. For shame and ptui.

I, for one, welcome Mr. Thomas to the Capital Region and I am sure that his tenure at Siena will go just as swimmingly as his tenures on the Dream Team and at the Toronto Raptors, NBC, the CBA, the Indiana Pacers, the New York Knicks, and FIU.

  4. Russell says:

I heard he was bringing in Stephon Marbury as an assistant. It should be quite a staff.

  5. Cheryl says:

Tiki Mayben sounds like a real jerk…

  6. Mick says:

Tiki is going to bring his own jumpsuit. I just think the orange is going to clash with the green and gold.
