Calling All Local Acts! Rocking on the River Needs You
As a follow-up to yesterday’s news, Troy is doing something for “Rocking on the River” that’s actually really cool, which I somehow missed. Yes, once in awhile the great blogger Kevin Marshall misses something. Go figure.
There’s a competition for a local band to open this year’s “Rocking on the River,” which draws anyw
here between 1,000 and 5,000 eyes and ears to each concert. If you’re interested, submit your song(s) to Jeff Pirro or Vito Ciccarelli in City Hall (1776 Sixth Ave, Troy NY). You can mail or drop off the CDs in person.
The winner will open for Unforgettable Fire, the U2 Tribute Band, and I dare the winners to announce themselves as Road Apples – a Tribute to The Tragically Hip.
The deadline is June 4th.
I know some of you local musicians read this blog. What I want you to do is get your music out there and, if chosen, raise holy Hell about it and get as many people to come as possible. Let’s make the statement that local music is more than just bar bands!

Oooh, maybe my old band should have a reunion (not). ‘raise holy Hell’ sounds fun, though…in a reminiscent sort of way!
I love The Tragically Hip!!
Yeah, Teri, I think it’s about time for a Bang Zoom reunion tour, don’t you?
No, nope…I can never get out of these overalls and back into whatever it was I swirled in again. It was fun, glad to have the memories. Hi to Sara! (p.s. Kathy comes here for llama walks!)
What’s with the reference to “Road Apples – A Tribute to The Tragically Hip”? I don’t get it…… There is a real band in Ontario, Canada by that name…..
